Hello! I’m Paddy Landau, a local therapist working in Kennington, a village just on the outskirts of Oxford in Oxfordshire.
I use hypnotherapy, NLP and Life Coaching in my practice.
How can I help you?
Do you struggle with the same old automatic habits of thought and action, or the same unhelpful emotional responses to events in your life? If you want or need to change your behaviour, your thoughts and your emotions, you may find that this is right for you.
This type of therapy works not only for emotional problems, but also for people wanting to improve aspects that already work quite well. Hypnotherapy and NLP are used to add an edge to sports, business and socialising.
I usually specialise in weight loss (overeating) and stress, but I also help clients with a range of problems, such as smoking cessation; drug and alcohol abuse; other types of addiction such as gambling; fear of public speaking; jealousy; road rage; certain types of relationship difficulties; and stress migraines.
If you want to gain confidence, remove self-doubt, or handle stress better, this type of therapy is a great way to improve your mental state.
Struggling with motivation or creative ideas? Don’t know how to proceed? Life coaching can lift you out of your dip and reap your potential.
What problems does this help with?
A surprisingly flexible therapy, hypnotherapy helps with most matters related to habits, thought patterns and emotions. This can range from wanting to improve your current skills — such as being more effective in your workplace, communicating better with your partner, improving your golf — to removing emotional problems such as a phobia or feeling timid.
Hypnotherapy digs deep into your subconscious and automatic thoughts, quickly changing them and your behaviours to give you a new and helpful way to respond to life’s challenges.
Hypnotherapy is also good to give a boost to areas in life where you need to improve your emotional or motivational skills.
In addition to therapy, I also use life coaching. Life coaching isn’t therapy (despite what you see on TV), but it’s a powerful adjunct, which helps to shine a light on new ideas and unexplored solutions. It is an effective approach to finding new solutions to business and personal problems especially when you feel “stuck”. Life coaching can also be useful if you need to talk to someone without judgement or an agenda — some clients come to me because they need someone to talk to in confidence, without fear of being judged.
When you come to see me, we have fun working together to spring you out of the old ways of thinking and acting, and exploring new and interesting ways of getting what you want and need in your life.
What are the benefits?
On a personal level, the benefits that clients have seen from this vary, from specific solutions (e.g. eliminating a phobia) to the general (e.g. changing a mindset of anxiety). On a less personal level, there is dealing with workplace bullying, finding a new way to address a business problem, and so on.
Any time you have a situation that can use a different mindset or a different approach to the same problem, this type of work can help.
If you can’t visit
If you can’t physically visit me due to distance or disability, it might be possible to visit virtually online. You’d need broadband, or a good 4G or 5G connection; a reasonably modern computer or mobile device with a microphone and webcam; and a quiet room where you can relax and won’t be disturbed. It’s not necessary to lie down; a comfortable chair will suffice. Email me if you feel that this would help you.
What can’t be done with this therapy?
Hypnotherapy doesn’t help with medical matters — for that, you need to visit a GP. When you call me to discuss your problem, I’ll let you know if you need to see a doctor before seeing me. For some conditions, I might ask to contact your doctor before I can safely proceed.
However, I can help if you struggle with the motivation to keep up with your doctor’s instructions.
Some conditions might require a doctor’s permission to proceed with hypnotherapy, even if the hypnotherapy is unrelated to the condition. This includes epilepsy, some heart conditions, personality disorders such as psychosis, bipolar, schizophrenia, psychopathy, borderline, or narcissistic, and some other conditions. If you are in any doubt, please seek advice from your medical doctor or medical therapist before contacting me; it’s better to be safe than to risk adding to your difficulties.
There is no such thing as a therapy that works for everyone. Even the most routine medical treatment or surgical procedure can fail for some people. Hypnotherapy is like that — there are some people who don’t respond to it. If that is you, don’t worry, because there are always other ways to deal with your need.
